Multifaith Curriculum: Living the Faith

INTRODUCTION

This lesson, Living the Faith, looks at the five major world religions—Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism, Christianity, and Islam—and how they are practiced in the United States in various venues: at home, at school, at work, and in the larger community. It also looks at worship, practices, and religious holidays in each faith. Included in the lesson are notes which accompany each slide in the digital presentation. The lesson also includes discussion questions, activities and links to films. The featured films highlight the different faiths and how adherents practice their religious traditions. Following each film are discussion questions that challenge the students to think about the central message in each film. By the end of the lesson, it becomes obvious that while each religion has its own distinct traditions, the five world religions share many observances and practices.
