DIVERSITY SEMINARS FOR LEADERS

ING offers professional development seminars that focus on informing and enhancing interaction with American Muslims. The seminars are especially designed for executives, administrators, managers and educators to meet the need for diversity education and cultural competency skills development in their respective organizations. The interactive workshops focus on improving the knowledge, understanding and interpersonal skills of attendees, and enhancing their ability to work effectively cross-culturally. We also provide resources and tools to participants, which they can use to disseminate and incorporate the knowledge they acquire during the seminar to others in their institution. Through participation in our diversity seminars, participants gain the following:
- Knowledge: A better understanding of American Muslims in areas such as beliefs, practices, and traditions that might impact that person’s interaction with others.
- Skills: Tips and protocols for interacting with American Muslims from various ethnic backgrounds help improve service delivery.
- Understanding: An enhanced understanding of a people or culture helps prevent bias and enhances the ability of executives to foster a tolerant and harmonious work and service environment.
According to a newly released survey by Gallup Poll, Americans are more than twice as likely to express prejudice against Muslims as they are against Jews, Buddhists or Christians; and although nearly two-thirds of Americans say they have little or no knowledge of Islam, a majority dislikes the faith. Such findings underscore the need for education and understanding, particularly about contemporary issues, which are addressed in all our diversity seminars.
Choose from the following four Diversity Seminars especially designed for leaders and professionals in their respective fields. Or contact ING at diversityseminars@ing.org to host one at your organization.
