Michael received a B.A. from Stanford University, an M.Div. from Yale Divinity School, an M.P.A. from the University of California, Los Angeles, and a Ph.D. from the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology. After retiring from several state and national organizations focused on social justice, Michael is active in his Buddhist community as a member of its Chaplaincy Council and the facilitator of support groups for persons with life-threatening illnesses and chronic health challenges in addition to volunteering at the Zen Hospice Project in San Francisco. Michael lives in Atherton with his wife Gabriele and enjoys daily hikes in the forests of Woodside.Michael represents the Buddhist religion.
